Red Lion Forres

Forres has many tasty eating venues, so why have I chosen the Red Lion? I don’t think I’ve ever been to a restaurant and immediately wanted to tell people how wonderful it is. The exterior might not grab you as a stopping off point, but walk through the doors and you realise it hides a hidden treasure. The traditional, quality interior including log fire has a familiar touch, immediately making you feel welcome.

The Old Mill Inn Restaurant Review - Nov 15

Recently, I have been looking for a suitable lunch venue where friends and I could meet and have a relaxed, inexpensive and well cooked lunch. Well, I've found that in the Old Mill at Brodie. Their two course lunchtime menu which allows you to choose from a choice of four starters and four main courses, is sure to appeal to everyone. Over the past week the starters have included whitebait, fresh soups, buffalo meatballs and southern fried chicken and the mains have included roast rib of beef, pheasant, king prawn spaghetti and open lasagne of mushrooms, leeks and pecorino cheese. The menus are changed every couple of days and are always of the same high standard using local and sometimes foraged ingredients to make the well presented and, more importantly, beautifully tasting food.
